At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 July 2015, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 6.04% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 6.30% (up 20 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.38% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
At 6.38%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 46 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 6.29%, so the government is paying 9 basis points more than twelve months ago.
