At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 July 2013, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 5.14% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 5.26% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.39% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.80% to 5.45%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.28%, so the government is paying 11 basis points more than twelve months ago.
