South Africa T-bill auction, 7 September 2012: 364-day at 4.84%, down 1 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 September 2012, the South African Reserve Bank cleared the 91-day bill at 4.95% (down 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 4.95% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 4.84% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the average rate at which bills are allotted in the weekly auction.

Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.82% to 5.68%.

A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 5.77%, so the government is paying 93 basis points less than twelve months ago.
