Nigeria T-bill auction, 29 June 2022: 364-day at 6.07%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 June 2022, the Central Bank of Nigeria set stop rates on the 91-day bill at 2.40% (down 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 3.79% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 6.07% (unchanged). The rate shown is the stop (issue) rate at the primary auction.
Demand was strong: bids totalled NGN 328.5bn against NGN 174.1bn on offer, 189% of the amount sought, and NGN 327.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.00% to 8.67%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.40%, so the government is paying 333 basis points less than twelve months ago.
