Nigeria T-bill auction, 4 April 2018: 364-day at 13.04%, down 11 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 April 2018, the Central Bank of Nigeria set stop rates on the 91-day bill at 11.75% (down 20 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.70% (down 30 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.04% (down 11 basis points). The rate shown is the stop (issue) rate at the primary auction.
Demand was strong: bids totalled NGN 204.3bn against NGN 95.2bn on offer, 215% of the amount sought, and NGN 95.2bn was accepted.
At 13.04%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 24 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.69%, so the government is paying 565 basis points less than twelve months ago.
