Nigeria T-bill auction, 5 April 2017: 364-day at 18.74%, up 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 April 2017, the Central Bank of Nigeria set stop rates on the 91-day bill at 13.55% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 17.21% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 18.74% (up 5 basis points). The rate shown is the stop (issue) rate at the primary auction.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled NGN 239.0bn against NGN 234.9bn on offer, 102% of the amount sought, and NGN 234.9bn was accepted.
At 18.74%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 25 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.56%, so the government is paying 918 basis points more than twelve months ago.
