Nigeria T-bill auction, 14 September 2016: 364-day at 18.48%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 September 2016, the Central Bank of Nigeria set stop rates on the 91-day bill at 14.00% (down 99 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.77% (up 29 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.48% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the stop (issue) rate at the primary auction.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled NGN 265.9bn against NGN 183.2bn on offer, 145% of the amount sought, and NGN 183.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.45% to 18.50%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.69%, so the government is paying 379 basis points more than twelve months ago.
