Nigeria T-bill auction, 5 August 2015: 364-day at 14.71%, up 171 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 August 2015, the Central Bank of Nigeria set stop rates on the 91-day bill at 10.00% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 12.90% (up 25 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.71% (up 171 basis points). The rate shown is the stop (issue) rate at the primary auction.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled NGN 218.6bn against NGN 195.2bn on offer, 112% of the amount sought, and NGN 195.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 10.35% to 16.28%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.14%, so the government is paying 457 basis points more than twelve months ago.
