Nigeria T-bill auction, 8 November 2006: 182-day at 6.25%, down 50 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 November 2006, the Central Bank of Nigeria set stop rates on the 182-day bill at 6.25% (down 50 basis points). The rate shown is the stop (issue) rate at the primary auction.
Demand was strong: bids totalled NGN 16.0bn against NGN 10.0bn on offer, 160% of the amount sought, and NGN 10.0bn was accepted.
At 6.25%, the 182-day rate is the lowest in the 28 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 7.73%, so the government is paying 148 basis points less than twelve months ago.
