Mozambique T-bill auction, 28 August 2024: 364-day at 15.18%, up 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 August 2024, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 15.17% (down 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.26% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.18% (up 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 4.7bn against MZN 4.8bn on offer, 98% of the amount sought, and MZN 4.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.09% to 19.05%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 17.83%, so the government is paying 265 basis points less than twelve months ago.
