Mozambique T-bill auction, 21 June 2023: 364-day at 17.82%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 June 2023, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 17.82% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 17.81% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 17.82% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 1.0bn against MZN 1.3bn on offer, 80% of the amount sought, and MZN 1.0bn was accepted.
At 17.82%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.45%, so the government is paying 237 basis points more than twelve months ago.
