Mozambique T-bill auction, 5 January 2022: 364-day at 13.40%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 January 2022, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 13.37% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.38% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.40% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 4.5bn against MZN 4.5bn on offer, 101% of the amount sought, and MZN 4.4bn was accepted.
At 13.40%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 25 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.29%, so the government is paying 611 basis points more than twelve months ago.
