Mozambique T-bill auction, 17 November 2021: 364-day at 13.40%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 November 2021, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 13.34% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 13.37% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.40% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 10.8bn against MZN 10.1bn on offer, 107% of the amount sought, and MZN 10.1bn was accepted.
At 13.40%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 24 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.72%, so the government is paying 568 basis points more than twelve months ago.
