Mozambique T-bill auction, 6 October 2021: 364-day at 13.40%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 October 2021, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 13.36% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.37% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.40% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 10.2bn against MZN 9.6bn on offer, 106% of the amount sought, and MZN 9.6bn was accepted.
At 13.40%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 25 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.94%, so the government is paying 546 basis points more than twelve months ago.
