Mozambique T-bill auction, 19 May 2021: 364-day at 13.39%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 May 2021, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 13.37% (up 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 13.45% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.39% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 13.2bn against MZN 13.5bn on offer, 98% of the amount sought, and MZN 13.2bn was accepted.
At 13.39%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.69%, so the government is paying 270 basis points more than twelve months ago.
