Mozambique T-bill auction, 14 October 2020: 364-day at 7.85%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 October 2020, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 8.19% (down 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.00% (down 19 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.85% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
Demand was strong: bids totalled MZN 11.0bn against MZN 4.0bn on offer, 273% of the amount sought, and MZN 4.0bn was accepted.
At 7.85%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 22 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.21%, so the government is paying 436 basis points less than twelve months ago.
