Mozambique T-bill auction, 30 January 2019: 364-day at 13.05%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 January 2019, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 182-day bill at 13.38% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.05% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 8.3bn against MZN 7.8bn on offer, 106% of the amount sought, and MZN 7.8bn was accepted.
At 13.05%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 48 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 21.78%, so the government is paying 873 basis points less than twelve months ago.
