Mozambique T-bill auction, 26 December 2018: 364-day at 13.17%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 December 2018, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 13.47% (down 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.49% (down 48 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.17% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 1.2bn against MZN 2.0bn on offer, 59% of the amount sought, and MZN 1.2bn was accepted.
At 13.17%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 48 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.00%, so the government is paying 1183 basis points less than twelve months ago.
