Mozambique T-bill auction, 26 September 2018: 364-day at 14.75%, down 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 September 2018, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 14.35% (down 51 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.60% (down 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.75% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 4.5bn against MZN 3.0bn on offer, 150% of the amount sought, and MZN 1.8bn was accepted.
At 14.75%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 49 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 26.61%, so the government is paying 1186 basis points less than twelve months ago.
