Mozambique T-bill auction, 29 August 2018: 364-day at 15.17%, down 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 August 2018, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 15.61% (down 8 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.53% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.17% (down 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled MZN 3.8bn against MZN 3.5bn on offer, 107% of the amount sought, and MZN 3.3bn was accepted.
At 15.17%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 50 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 26.89%, so the government is paying 1172 basis points less than twelve months ago.
