Mozambique T-bill auction, 8 August 2018: 364-day at 15.38%, down 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 August 2018, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 15.71% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 15.56% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 15.38% (down 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 4.0bn against MZN 4.0bn on offer, 99% of the amount sought, and MZN 3.4bn was accepted.
At 15.38%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 50 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 27.42%, so the government is paying 1204 basis points less than twelve months ago.
