Mozambique T-bill auction, 25 July 2018: 364-day at 15.45%, down 5 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 25 July 2018, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 15.72% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 15.57% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 15.45% (down 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 1.8bn against MZN 3.0bn on offer, 61% of the amount sought, and MZN 1.8bn was accepted.
At 15.45%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 50 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 27.44%, so the government is paying 1199 basis points less than twelve months ago.
