Mozambique T-bill auction, 6 September 2017: 364-day at 26.71%, down 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 September 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 91-day bill at 24.77% (down 3 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 26.71% (down 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 3.2bn against MZN 4.5bn on offer, 70% of the amount sought, and MZN 2.9bn was accepted.
At 26.71%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 24 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.50%, so the government is paying 1321 basis points more than twelve months ago.
