Mozambique T-bill auction, 10 May 2017: 364-day at 27.82%, down 40 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 May 2017, the Banco de Moçambique cleared the 182-day bill at 26.92% (down 26 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 27.82% (down 40 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average subscription rate.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled MZN 5.5bn against MZN 12.0bn on offer, 46% of the amount sought, and MZN 5.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.50% to 29.74%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.75%, so the government is paying 1507 basis points more than twelve months ago.
