Malawi T-bill auction, 24 March 2026: 364-day at 17.00%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 March 2026, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 12.00% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 15.00% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 17.00% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 137.5bn and MWK 49.7bn was accepted, 36% of what was bid.
At 17.00%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 41 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 26.00%, so the government is paying 900 basis points less than twelve months ago.
