At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 April 2021, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 9.99% (up 44 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 12.80% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 206m and MWK 206m was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 7.50% to 10.00%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 7.80%, so the government is paying 219 basis points more than twelve months ago.
