Malawi T-bill auction, 19 January 2021: 364-day at 13.70%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 January 2021, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 9.95% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 12.70% (up 20 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.70% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 10.1bn and MWK 10.1bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.65% to 13.94%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.00%, so the government is paying 570 basis points more than twelve months ago.
