At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 November 2020, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 9.95% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 13.94% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 2.2bn and MWK 2.2bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 13.94%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 38 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.50%, so the government is paying 544 basis points more than twelve months ago.
