Malawi T-bill auction, 7 April 2020: 364-day at 12.48%, up 37 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 April 2020, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 7.50% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 12.48% (up 37 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 8.7bn and MWK 7.7bn was accepted, 88% of what was bid.
At 12.48%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 30 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.50%, so the government is paying 98 basis points more than twelve months ago.
