Malawi T-bill auction, 10 September 2019: 91-day at 9.40%, up 23 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 September 2019, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 9.40% (up 23 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.

Bids totalled MWK 14.2bn and MWK 687m was accepted, 5% of what was bid.

Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 8.80% to 14.00%.

A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 13.99%, so the government is paying 459 basis points less than twelve months ago.
