Malawi T-bill auction, 18 June 2019: 364-day at 10.00%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 June 2019, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 9.00% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 9.50% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 10.00% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 5.1bn and MWK 5.1bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 10.00%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 43 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.00%, so the government is paying 500 basis points less than twelve months ago.
