Malawi T-bill auction, 15 May 2019: 364-day at 10.00%, down 48 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 May 2019, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 182-day bill at 9.22% (down 58 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.00% (down 48 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 10.4bn and MWK 10.4bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 10.00%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 43 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.00%, so the government is paying 500 basis points less than twelve months ago.
