At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 February 2019, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 182-day bill at 10.50% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 17.1bn and MWK 17.1bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 10.50%, the 182-day rate is the lowest in the 54 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 14.50%, so the government is paying 400 basis points less than twelve months ago.
