Malawi T-bill auction, 5 December 2017: 364-day at 16.00%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 December 2017, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 14.88% (up 44 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 16.00% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 6.4bn and MWK 4.9bn was accepted, 77% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.29% to 26.00%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 29.00%, so the government is paying 1300 basis points less than twelve months ago.
