At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 September 2017, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 182-day bill at 15.50% (down 231 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 178m and MWK 178m was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 15.50%, the 182-day rate is the lowest in the 28 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 29.00%, so the government is paying 1350 basis points less than twelve months ago.
