Malawi T-bill auction, 20 June 2017: 364-day at 23.00%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 June 2017, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 21.35% (up 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 23.00% (unchanged). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 3.0bn and MWK 3.0bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 23.00%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 27 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 29.00%, so the government is paying 600 basis points less than twelve months ago.
