Malawi T-bill auction, 21 February 2017: 91-day at 23.98%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 February 2017, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 23.98% (up 15 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 25.34% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 2.1bn and MWK 1.7bn was accepted, 80% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 23.77% to 29.00%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 25.52%, so the government is paying 154 basis points less than twelve months ago.
