Malawi T-bill auction, 29 March 2016: 364-day at 28.38%, up 2 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 March 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 364-day bill at 28.38% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.

Bids totalled MWK 2.2bn and MWK 2.2bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.

At 28.38%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 18 auctions of the past year.

A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 26.81%, so the government is paying 157 basis points more than twelve months ago.
