Malawi T-bill auction, 9 February 2016: 364-day at 25.50%, down 70 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 February 2016, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 91-day bill at 24.00% (up 448 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.00% (up 37 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.50% (down 70 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 12.8bn and MWK 12.8bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 20.83% to 26.89%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 26.99%, so the government is paying 149 basis points less than twelve months ago.
