At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 April 2015, the Reserve Bank of Malawi cleared the 182-day bill at 24.25% (down 27 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.17% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the average yield of allotted bids.
Bids totalled MWK 6.8bn and MWK 6.8bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 18.04% to 26.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 20.30%, so the government is paying 487 basis points more than twelve months ago.
