At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 October 2022, the Bank of Ghana cleared the 91-day bill at 32.16% (up 76 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 33.08% (up 84 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average interest-rate equivalent.
Bids totalled GHS 1.3bn and GHS 1.3bn was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 32.16%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 40 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 12.47%, so the government is paying 1968 basis points more than twelve months ago.
