At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 July 2021, the Bank of Ghana cleared the 91-day bill at 12.59% (down 4 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 13.38% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average interest-rate equivalent.
Bids totalled GHS 736m and GHS 736m was accepted, 100% of what was bid.
At 12.59%, the 91-day rate is the lowest in the 52 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 14.02%, so the government is paying 143 basis points less than twelve months ago.
