Egypt T-bill auction, 24 December 2024: 364-day at 26.24%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 24 December 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 31.22% (down 42 basis points), the 182-day bill at 31.21% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 26.24% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 333.9bn against EGP 80.0bn on offer, 417% of the amount sought, and EGP 65.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 25.75% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 27.42%, so the government is paying 119 basis points less than twelve months ago.
