Egypt T-bill auction, 15 October 2024: 364-day at 26.23%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 October 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 29.66% (up 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 29.22% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 26.23% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 128.7bn against EGP 80.0bn on offer, 161% of the amount sought, and EGP 49.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 25.75% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 25.99%, so the government is paying 24 basis points more than twelve months ago.
