Egypt T-bill auction, 18 June 2024: 364-day at 25.94%, up 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 June 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 25.67% (down 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.97% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 25.94% (up 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled EGP 52.4bn against EGP 75.0bn on offer, 70% of the amount sought, and EGP 31.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 23.47% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 24.02%, so the government is paying 192 basis points more than twelve months ago.
