Egypt T-bill auction, 4 June 2024: 364-day at 25.92%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 June 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 25.76% (down 10 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.98% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.92% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 164.5bn against EGP 75.0bn on offer, 219% of the amount sought, and EGP 120.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 23.47% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 23.80%, so the government is paying 212 basis points more than twelve months ago.
