Egypt T-bill auction, 30 April 2024: 364-day at 25.96%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 April 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 25.95% (up 4 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.89% (down 4 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.96% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 158.3bn against EGP 85.0bn on offer, 186% of the amount sought, and EGP 75.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 23.47% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 23.48%, so the government is paying 249 basis points more than twelve months ago.
