Egypt T-bill auction, 9 April 2024: 364-day at 25.75%, down 16 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 April 2024, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 25.68% (up 69 basis points), the 182-day bill at 25.59% (down 16 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 25.75% (down 16 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 90.8bn against EGP 80.0bn on offer, 113% of the amount sought, and EGP 30.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 23.47% to 32.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 22.68%, so the government is paying 306 basis points more than twelve months ago.
