Egypt T-bill auction, 7 June 2022: 364-day at 13.80%, down 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 June 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 15.01% (up 35 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.97% (up 81 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.80% (down 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 102.8bn against EGP 32.5bn on offer, 316% of the amount sought, and EGP 43.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.84%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.33%, so the government is paying 47 basis points more than twelve months ago.
