Egypt T-bill auction, 26 April 2022: 364-day at 13.41%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 April 2022, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 13.02% (up 62 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.47% (up 39 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.41% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 60.4bn against EGP 33.0bn on offer, 183% of the amount sought, and EGP 35.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 13.55%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.37%, so the government is paying 4 basis points more than twelve months ago.
